Since May, Beyoncé has been on a lavish, monumental world tour supporting Renaissance, with seas of chrome-clad fans in each city vying to win the mute challenge and basking in welcoming company. To coincide with the release of her Renaissance concert film, she’s dropped the closing credits song “My House,” which is like a star athlete’s celebration pose after a godlike game. Co-written and produced with The-Dream, “My House” begins as a nasty step team stomp that evokes the unified roar of 2018’s Homecoming. But midway through, it switches to a boiling house cut where she calls for a self-love revolution and even takes some phrasing inspiration from RuPaul: “But I’ll never expect you to love me/When you don’t love yourself.” Linking two major moments in Bey history—one of her greatest performances and her cathartic tribute to undersung influences in dance music history—is serious business, and her house has enough room for the whole world to party in it.
