It feels like Monday Night wrote “Chillz” while he was away from his Richmond hometown, staring at the photo of his girl he keeps in his wallet. It’s not really a love song—it’s more like disbelief at her fineness. He’s pretty blunt about it: “Multitple reasons why I love her to death/Them jugs on her chest/Don’t give a fuck, she keep it thug in a dress.” The song comes from his latest tape, The 3rd Scheme, produced by Mutant Academy’s Sycho Sid, and Monday Night has the perfect smoky, even-tempered voice for smooth talk. Even when he gets a little out of pocket with his praise (“Even gay niggas they like my bitch”), you can still imagine his bae pressing send on that heart emoji.
